Dry, Damp & Wet Location Guidance Install for the Right Environment
Lighting should always be installed in an environment that matches the fixture's rating.
Dry Location
A dry location is an indoor area not normally exposed to moisture, steam, dripping water, or direct water contact.
Best for: dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, foyers, hallways, staircases, offices, and many bathroom areas outside the bathtub or shower zone.
For bathrooms and other humid areas, always follow the fixture's stated dry, damp, or wet-location rating and applicable local electrical requirements. If you are unsure which rating is required for the intended location, consult a qualified electrician before installation.
Damp Location
A damp location may have humidity, condensation, or occasional light moisture, but no direct water spray or continuous water contact.
Best for: covered patios, covered porches, protected entry areas, powder rooms, and other humid or moisture-prone areas only when the fixture is specifically rated for damp locations and the installation complies with applicable local requirements.
Fixtures located near the bathtub or shower zone must follow applicable local electrical code and product rating requirements.
Wet Location
A wet location may be exposed to direct water, rain, spray, or more intense moisture conditions.
Best for: exposed outdoor areas, open patios, and other locations subject to direct water exposure only when the fixture is specifically rated for wet locations and permitted for that installation by applicable local requirements.
If a fixture may be exposed to shower spray or direct water, use only a wet-rated fixture approved for that environment.
Important Placement Notes
•Use LINKORI lighting only in locations that match the individual fixture's stated dry, damp, or wet-location rating.
•Do not install dry-rated lighting in enclosed showers, outdoor areas, or areas with direct water contact.
•Avoid placing delicate finishes, alabaster, fabric shades, plated metal, or hand-finished details directly in steam-heavy or poorly ventilated areas.
•Avoid prolonged direct sunlight on alabaster, natural stone, fabric shades, and hand-finished details, as extended exposure may cause fading, discoloration, or material change over time.
•Allow proper airflow around bulbs, shades, LED strips, and heat-dissipation areas.
•Do not cover bulbs, vents, LED components, or drivers.
•Install fixtures at the recommended height for the room and application.
